The Credit CARD Act that recently kicked into high gear this year is often hailed as one of the more consumer-friendly legislations passed on credit card reform, but it’s important to give due credit to the giant shoulders it stands upon. The Credit CARD Act is, in essence, an upgrade for the Truth in Lending Act, which has been on the books working for you since 1968. One of the best things that the Truth in Lending Act, which has been amended and revised several times throughout the decades, does for you is protect you from purchases, credit card charges and other transactions that you shouldn’t be responsible for. But in order to cash in, you have to know the law. Check out some of these common federal gotcha’s that can get you out of a credit card charge:
Nix Billing Errors with the Fair Credit Billing Act
In 1986, the Fair Credit Billing Act joined the fray in protecting you rights by making it illegal for credit card companies to charge you for mistakes made by the card issuer or the vendor. This

Today I leave Omaha, NE after attending the Insurance Advertising Compliance Association (IAdCA) Conference. I like this conference because of its smaller size and the way marketing and compliance folks come together and really engage with each other on advertising compliance issues. This year I presented twice on preparing for and handling market conduct exams. Interestingly, the two offered very different discussions. It would have been great to have all the participants in one session because I think each would have benefited from the discussions held in the other session. But that is not what was….
In the second session we had a discussion about how much marketing should be responsible for generating compliant pieces out of the gate, which was quite interesting. A couple of companies were moving some of that function out of compliance and putting it in marketing. I am a big believer in the compliance department’s obligation to not just say no, but to provide solutions…to provide a road map illustrating how marketing can both stay on-sides with the applicable regulations, but still make the point they want to make.

If we have to open some Word Documents pages, we might be disturbed with the crowded bar that filled with the title of our Word Documents. Opening so many Word Documents pages is making our computer display looks so complicated and crowded as well until we feel confuse or inconvenience on working our job.
It will be very helpful if the Word Documents page can be tabbed just like our browser page. With the Word Documents tabs program, we can differentiate our Word Documents pages with the other types of page. With that way, we will fell more convenience on our working process. There’s this pervasive myth going around that paying off your credit card balance in full each month will score you points (literally) with TransUnion, Equifax and Experian. The fact of the matter is that it won’t. And, in fact, you could even be hurting your credit score by purposefully racking up a high balance and then paying it off before incurring a finance charge. Sound crazy? I’ll explain.
Paying off your credit card balance in full is definitely a good thing. The benefits include:
- Not paying any finance charges.
- Reducing the risk of going into debt.
- Avoiding late or delinquent payments (which DO go on your credit report).
- Being a good customer in the eyes of your credit card company.
I added that obnoxious emphasis to the last point because there is the key difference between building credit and building goodwill with your credit card company. Both are important to your credit score, but in different ways.

Payment history eats up a whopping 35% of the pie that makes up your credit scoring factors. But the

Yes, you can pay your federal income taxes to the IRS by credit card or debit card. Should you do it? Maybe. Here’s how it works:
When you file your tax return through an official IRS e-pay service provider (see list below), you’ll have an option to pay your tax bill by credit card or debit card now or schedule a later date. This payment is processed by the service provider and passed along to the IRS. You will not write your credit card on your tax return. The IRS will never see nor store your credit card information. You will then pay a convenience fee to the service provider.
Paying your taxes with a credit card is also a great way to build credit, that is, as long as you maintain your monthly payments. If you do not have a credit card, information from this site can be useful in obtaining one. Keep in mind that if you have bad credit or even no credit, then it will be harder for you to be approved for a credit card.
There are obvious pros and cons to paying your taxes by credit card, most of which are already inherent to using credit cards at all.
Pros of Paying Your Taxes by Credit Card
- Convenience – You can send electronic payment by credit or debt whether you e-file or paper file. This
