Facebook Scams And More: How To Avoid Falling Victim On The Social Networks

Facebook users everywhere are being warned about a new scam hitting the social network, to add to the ever-increasing list of things to watch out for on the site.

This latest ruse is a phishing attempt in the form of a private message informing the user that their profile violates the networks policies on annoying or insulting behaviour, and will be deleted within 24 hours unless the account is re-verified. The message contains a link which leads to a page like this:

Notice the field asking for the first 6 digits of your credit or debit card…which youre asked for again on another page:

Youre also asked for your webmail details, and armed with all this information scammers can hijack your account, send further phishing messages to everyone on your friends list, your email contacts and more.

What Is a Cash Out Refinance Mortgage And Is It Worth It

Back a few years ago I was in a tight position with money.  I had credit card debt, a car loan, and mortgage to boot.  Around this time I received a call from my lender telling me that I could lower my mortgage rate.  In fact, the lender even mentioned that I could do a cash out refinance and consolidate any debt since I had such a great credit rating and plenty of equity in my home.

As a result I ended up consolidating my credit card debt into my mortgage and was eventually able to free myself of all the heavy debt I was paying.  However in my situation a cash out refinance loan worked great but you might be wondering would it work in yours?  In this article Im going to cover what is a cash out refinance, the rules behind them, and when you should and should not get one.

To start a cash out refinance mortgage is a loan that will allow you to pull extra cash out of your mortgage provided you have enough equity in your home.  For e

How do I decide which Credit Card to apply for?

How do you know whether you would be better off applying for a credit card ideal for balance transfers or a card that offers interest free purchases? Some people know without too much thought which type of card would better suit them, but this isn’t always the case. Read on for some things to think about when you are choosing which credit card to apply for.

Probably one of the main things you need to consider is how you are actually planning to use the card. For instance, if you want to transfer an outstanding balance from an existing card to your new one, it is likely that you would be able to benefit from a balance transfer card.

Alternatively, if you like to use your credit card on a regular basis then a purchase card might be a good option for you; if you choose one of these then it’s likely you’ll be able to get an interest free purchase period and 0% balance transfer period, so this is a useful option for many consumers.

If you are unsure which card would be best for you then one good type to consider is the all-round credit card. This Read more…

Auto Insurance Fraud: Don’t Do It!

Did you know that auto insurance fraud cost the insurance industry about $30 billion a year? While most law-abiding citizens would never dream of committing fraud or felony, there are other elements of society that make their living off of deliberately scamming people. Here’s what you need to know so that you don’t get involved in auto insurance fraud, either intentionally or accidently.

First, let’s understand the two types of auto insurance fraud.

Hard Fraud occurs when a perpetrator stages a scenario like a collision, theft or personal injury so as to lay claims for compensation from an insurance company. It could include a ring of conspirators who play out a scenario to dupe unsuspecting victims and insurance company investigators. Sometimes, doctors, lawyers and insurance agents play an active role in these fake accidents.

Soft Fraud or opportunistic fraud occurs when a perpetrator exaggerates or lies about an event in order to claim compensation. For i

A List Of Timeshare Resale Scam Companies – Who Is Legitimate And Who Is Not

Back a few days ago I received a comment from a lady name Cindy who was looking into a company to sell her timeshare with.  Here is what she said.

I have researched a few of these & feel that Sharp Innovations LLC just may be a legitimate company. Have you ever heard of them? They state in their contract that if they don’t within 180 days they will refund your initial advertising fee of $899.00 which you pay with your credit card to further protect yourself (since most credit cards fully refund your money when the services are not met). The contract states that there are no other fees or costs. I realize I won’t be making money off my timeshare, but maybe I can pay off what I owe.

Now Im going to be blunt with you when I say that you do not want to invest with these companies.  I dont know how many people I get coming here on a regular basis looking for some sort of list of legitimate timeshare resale companies.  I cant make it any more blunt when I say that its not worth it.

    How do I know this?

Because Ive invested in 2 of these companies and all it got me was nothing.  No offe
