More Business Buzzwords to Ban
Buzzwords have long been a pet peeve of mine. In fact, I feel so strongly about them, I included a lesson on avoiding buzzwords in my Speak for Success course. (Learn more about the course and sign up if you want here.)
Every time I see or hear someone say they want to “touch base” or “push the envelope”, my ears fall off.
Well, okay, not really, but they might as well have, because I stop listening. And that is the “kiss of death” when you’re trying to make a sale.
So of course I read Ann Handley’s 9 Business Buzzwords I’d Like to Ban Because They Make Us Sound Like Tools (Part I) and her 8 More Business Buzzwords I’d Like to Ban Because They Make Us Sound Like Tools (Part II).
Some of her choices are already on my buzzwords to ban list but definitely all of them should be added! “Impactful” and “drill down” have to be put on the list for sure.
And there are lots more out there. What buzzwords are your particular pet peeves? Which have the two of us missed?
